Declaration of Rights

For the last few months in classes, we have been discussing the current events around Black Lives Matter, human rights and our responsibility to speak up against injustice.

Through these conversations with students, we have come up with a Declaration of Rights, written by and for the students of the Inclusive Community Center. This Declaration of Rights is now displayed on the front four windows of our building on Russell Street.

Click below to watch our video which showcases the painting process and features the Declaration of Rights, in the students' own words.

To Our Community:

We are now asking YOU, our community, to contribute artwork to add to this window gallery.

The windows are painted with the words of the declaration, however, we would like to incorporate student work into the show. Below you will see a leaf template—please send us your artwork representing topics such as: respect, safety, recognition, identity and equality.

Your artwork should be drawn on the leaf template below. If you make something digitally, we will try our best to make it fit on the leaf and print it for you!

Please only include positive messages of kindness and respect. Anything that does not follow this guideline will not be displayed.

Any questions about the Inclusive Community Center window project can be sent to:

Liana Marks: liana.marks@pathlightgroup.org

Eddy Hougen: Edward.hougen@pathlightgroup.org

Amanda Kent: Amanda.kent@pathlightgroup.org

We are accepting artwork from September through October 31st.  Artwork can be email, mailed or dropped off at the ICC in a box in the front.

We are excited to create this together and to share our voices with the community! THANK YOU!

Sincerely,

The Milestones, Whole Children and Whole Selves Team
