Learn to Dance (Ages 8-12) - Instructor Tammy Thompson

If your child loves to get moving when the music starts, but doesn’t quite know what to do, this class is for them! This class offers kids the opportunity to move to a beat, increase musicality and to use their imagination. Class will focus on both dancing individually and how to dance with a partner.

Gymnastics I: School Age (Ages 5-9) - Instructor Lucy Spaulding
Time: Tues Dec 2, 9, 16 3:45 - 4:45PM Price: $45
In this skill development class, students will begin to learn the basic gymnastics moves, including somersaults, cartwheels, bridges, handstands, and splits. They will spend time perfecting each move and using correct form.
Kids learn how fundamental skills fit together to make complex movements
and sequences. Students will master these basic moves and will choreograph a routine, which will then be performed to music.

Students learn foundational positions and movements that form the building blocks for gymnastics skills. Social education is also acquired by the children as they follow directions, wait their turn, and interact with their peers. Kids are encouraged to bring their favorite music to move to!
Martial Arts - Kung Fu (Mixed levels) - Instructor Morgan Kent - Spirit of the Heart

Both physical and verbal self defense martial arts skills will be taught with a focus on cooperation, respect, increased self-awareness, and self-control. Students will earn belts & stripes at their own pace, while learning the values of hard work & determination. Each session culminates in a presentation and board-breaking demonstration!
Magic Box Drama Therapy Group (6-9) - Instructor Becca Greene-Van Horn
Time: Fri Dec 5,12,19 3:45 - 4:45 Price: $45
Using developmentally appropriate dramatic structures, kids explore the world of feelings and imagination. Both groups will include improvisation, structured and unstructured drama games, acting out stories
(both original and from children’s literature), puppet play, and expressive movement. These fun classes will give the kids that much needed space to release energy in positive ways that increase self esteem and creative self expression.
Wizard of Oz (Ages 10-14) - Instructor Becca Greene-Van Horn

Come join us for a fun-filled "play shop" where we will follow the yellow brick road, exploring the characters and themes from the classic movie story. Participants will have an opportunity to "try on" any of the great roles they want to. Through drama games and improvisation, kids will be encouraged to connect to their hearts, minds, courage and self-confidence in creative and playful ways. Classes will be videotaped and students will be able to see themselves act!

Tom Whitney, President of our local Astronomy Association will be there to conduct a planetarium show. We will then caravan over to the Observatory for a look through the big telescope. After an evening of star gazing, families are welcome to join each other at Bertucci's in Amherst for dinner. Whole Children will make reservations, but you must call and let us know that you would like to attend. (Families are responsible for their own dinner tab.)
