Schedule and Enrollment

Whole Children offers weekly after school and weekend classes for children ranging in age from birth through young adulthood.  These classes are for children of all abilities, and are specially designed to accomodate children with special needs and circumstances.

The uniqueness of Whole Children lies in the underlying design and purpose of its programs.  Teachers are not only qualified in their teaching or recreational area, but also have expertise, experience and/or a particular interest in working with children who have special needs.  Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for each child to experience success, and to learn skills that will enable them to function in integrated settings within our larger community.

We endeavor to create this by:

  • Hiring specially trained teachers
  • Limiting class size
  • Utilizing volunteer help and support
  • Directly teaching the skills necessary to function in a group setting as part of our classes
  • Involving parents in decision-making at all levels
  • Approaching each individual child with respect for his or her uniqueness

Activities

In addition to the weekly classes, Whole Children holds family events, educational seminars and vacation programs.  These activities are designed to build community among families who are struggling with many of the same issues, and to provide support to families through educational programs and appropriate activities for children during school vacation. See Activities and Events for more information.
